He was 82.

Mr. Macedo had been honorary president of the party since retiring from politics in 1987. Socialist officials declared a 48- hour halt to campaigning for the European Parliament elections out of respect for Mr. Macedo's role in establishing Portuguese democracy, Leading candidates from the governing Social Democratic Party and the conservative Social and Democratic Center also halted their campaigns. An opponent of the the rightist dictatorship that ruled Portugal from 1926 to 1974, Mr.

Macedo was arrested eight times on political charges. He was a founding member of the then Socialist Party in the early 1970s, and represented northern Oporto as a deputy after Portugal returned to democracy in 1974. President Mario Soares of Portugal praised Mr. Macedo as "a good and generous man who fought for liberty and democracy." Hannigan, a retired master electrician who served as an associate commissioner of the city's Office of Elderly Affairs from 1978 to 1986. Mr. Hannigan died of Parkinson's disease Monday at Mattapan Hospital. He was 79 and lived in Readville. He retired in 1969 after 30 years with the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad in the Readville car shops and South Boston yards.

He also was a member of the citizens advisory committee to the state Executive Office of Elder Affairs. John's Episcopal Church in Northampton for Marjorie H. Dunham, registrar of Harvard Divinity School from 1956 until her retirement in 1971. Miss Dunham died Tuesday in Cooley Dickinson Hospital, a day after apparently suffering a heart attack. She was 79 and had lived in Northampton since moving from Cambridge in 1972. Born in Attleboro, she graduated from Wheaton College in 1932.

Miss Dunham worked as assistant registrar at Union Theological Seminary in New York from 1954 to 1956, as secretary First Church in Newton from 1938 to 1954 and in the alumni appointment office at Wheaton from 1934 to 1938. She was a member of the Northampton Historical Society, Children's Aid and Family Service and the Hampshire United Fund and a director of the Lathrop House of Northampton. Open to the public. Jerry T. Ballantine Boston-based filmmaker; 74 Jerry T. Ballantine, a Bostonbased filmmaker who created television commercials and documentaries, died of cancer Wednesday in his home in North Berwick, Maine. He was 74.

Founder of Ballantine Films Inc. on Newbury Street in 1952, he made TV spots for New York advertising agencies, representing such firms as Gillette and H. P. Hood. He made documentaries that the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Brandeis University and Harvard Law School showed at fund-raising events.

One of these, about MIT's Magnet Laboratory, was aired by public television. Mr. Ballantine was an instructor in film production for five years at Boston University. In 1971 Mr. Ballantine moved from Acton to North Berwick, commuting to his offices in the Back Bay until 1974.

Thereafter, he made only equine films, particularly of competitions among drivers of carriages drawn by four horses. At the international carriage competition in Hungary, he shot exclusive footage of Britain's Prince Phillip rolling over in his carriage, film shown by the BBC with narration by the prince. E. Ray Kelley, 64 Was Gloucester restaurateur Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow in the First Baptist Church of Manchester for E. Ray Kelley, owner of Cameron's Restaurant in Gloucester from 1968 until he sold it in 1981. Mr.

Kelley died Wednesday at his home in Manchester. He was 64. He was widely known for holding charitable events at Cameron's, such as Valentine's Day dinners to benefit Meals on Wheels and Christmas dinners on behalf of Gloucester's elderly residents. Cameron's also sponsored St. Patrick's Day parties.

Born in Westbrook, Maine, Mr. Kelley graduated from Deering High School in Portland and Northeastern University in 1948. He served as a Navy gunner's mate first-class in the Pacific during World War II. After selling the restaurant, Mr. Kelly became business manager for the Manchester school system, manager of the Down East Oyster House in Gloucester, manager of the Surf Restaurant in Magnolia and marketing and engineering specialist for Field Services in Beverly.

Since 1987, he had been treasurer of Civil Sites Associated in Wakefield. He also owned E. Ray Kelley Accounting Services and the Village Hardware Store, both in Manchester, from 1949 until 1968. A former chairman of the Manchester Board of Selectman, Mr. Kelley was a founder and first president of the Cape Ann Shrine Club.

He was a member of the Aleppo Temple in Wilmington, the Manchester Lodge and the Royal Order of Jesters. He helped organize the annual golf tournament at Bass Rocks Golf Club in Gloucester to raise money for the Shriners Burns Institute in Boston. He leaves his wife, Norma A. (Thing); three daughters, Eileen R. Buckley of Manchester, Elizabeth L.

of Brookline, and Diane B. of Rockport; his mother, Lillian P. Kelley of and two grandchildren.
